Unit 1 Does the tiger eat meat?
           
●教学内容:Unit 1Does the tiger eat meat?
 
●教材分析:本单元的话题为“动物”。简单先容了世界各地的部分动物及其栖息地、习性等,学生们比较熟悉,同时唤起学生热爱动物、保护动物的意识。本单元内容紧密结合初中生所熟悉和喜爱的话题而展开听说训练。使学生既开阔了眼界有增长了常识。
 
●教学目标
Ⅰ。常识目标
1.       词汇:全体学生能正确认读、听懂、理解以下单词:zoo, tiger, camel, elephant, lion, monkey, panda, snake, wolf, thousand, visit, every, animal, zebra, Australia, Europe, Asia, here, bamboo90%左右的学生能正确拼写:thousand, Australia, Europe , Asia
句型:全体学生能够听懂、理解、说出并且笔头写出下列句型:
Does the tiger come from Europe? No, it doesn’t.
          Does the polar bear eat meat?   Yes, it does.
2.       课文:95%左右的学生能理解并且流利朗读教材Activity 3中的内容;程度较弱的学生要求能理解。
Ⅱ。技能目标
1.       多数学生经过操练后能比较流利地朗读并且表演出Activity 3 中的内容,30%左右的学生能脱离课本先容个别动物的栖息地及习性。
2.       全体学生能正确理解教师提供的补充常识,能积极保护动物。
Ⅲ。情感、态度与价值观:在用英语交流中,培养热爱动物,保护动物的意识。
●教学重点
1. 常识目标中词汇与句型的讲授与学习。
词汇与句型在听、说方面的多重输出
2.培养谈论自己喜欢的动物的能力。
●教学难点:一般现在时第三人称单数做主语的疑问句及其回答
 
●突破途径:通过大量的听说操练,培养学生的语言功用。
 
●设计思路:在学习重点词汇后,进行对话的训练,同时也体会新词汇的用法。
 
●教学资源:电脑,录音机

Show the students some pictures of the animals, then ask them where do the animal come from or what do they eat.

Play a guessing game.
Play the game with some animal cards. Ask them: Do you want them to be missing forever?
Try to guess the missing animals.
Get more understanding of the animals.
Listening
Show them some animal pictures and ask them what animal they want to see first or last.
Listen to the dialogue and number the pictures they hear.
Get a listening practice.
The text understanding
Listening for the first time: What animals can you hear
The second time: listen and match.
The third time : Read and check the true sentences.
The fourth time: listen and repeat. Pay more attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
Understanding the text well.
Get a full understanding of the main points.
Practice and consolidation
Divide the animal into three groups: eat meat, eat grass and leaves, eat both. Let students to divide them according to a sample dialogue.
Think and make dialogues with their partners.
Make further understanding of the grammar and check the pronunciation with the help the teacher.

Teach the students some animal idioms.
Let them think about them for a while, then check the answers.
Do and check.
Enlarge their knowledge.
Ask the students to watch a video. It’s about protecting animals. Let them know that animals are our friends and we should love them, and don’t eat any wild animal or buy them.
Watch and think: How to protect the animal?
 
Moral teaching.
Summary
Let students say that we have learnt some animals and where do they come from. Also we learnt the important sentences:
Does the tiger eat meat? Yes, it does.
Does the kangaroo come from Asia?
No, it doesn’t. It comes from Australia.
Get a understanding of the whole text.
Homework
Assign the homework:
1. Copy the names of the animals we talked about today.
2. Read Activity 3.
3. Find more information about these animals on the Internet or in books.
 
Get more practice from homework
Consolidate what they have learnt.
